5 Simple Tips for Slowing Down and Living Your Best Life

You know when I was younger, I just couldn’t wait to be an adult and make my own decisions. Then, once I became an adult, it was like in the blink of an eye I was sailing towards 30. And, life just hasn’t slowed down since then. Every now and then, I have to remind myself to slow down and live the best life I can in the moment.

5 Tips for Slowing Down and Living Your Best Life

So, here are 5 tips for slowing down and living your best life!

#1 Smell the Roses

Literally, stop on the sidewalk or at the park and smell the roses. Take time to really take in the beauty in nature. Usually we are in such a rush that we forget the little things that make our life good. So, the next time you are out in the hustle and bustle of the world, take a moment to stop what you are doing and literally smell the roses, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the warmth of the sun.

#2 Dance Your Heart Out

You don’t have to be good at dancing, or in my case have any rhythm. But, dancing is scientifically proven to double your pleasure, literally. Music stimulates your brain’s rewards centers, and then when you dance to the music it activates sensory and motor circuits of happiness. If you truly want to slow down and live your best life, take time to dance your heart out.

#3 Get Rid of Electronics

Do you know how quickly your brain has to work just to compute what is going on with TV, tablets, and smartphones? It is one of the main causes of ADHD, today. Everything goes in high speeds and super fast. If you want to slow down and live your best life, take a few days a month to just get rid of the electronics. It doesn’t have to be daily, but the more you have to figure out what to do without those things, the slower your day will seem to go.

#4 Make a Difference

If you are reading this, your life is probably pretty good. You have a way to get on the internet, probably a job, and food in your belly. Make a difference in someone else’s life. Whether you give them a coffee, buy them breakfast, or spend a whole day at the soup kitchen, you are making a difference. Not only is giving helping someone less fortunate, but it makes you happy, too. So, take time to step away from work and the craziness of life, and make a difference in someone else’s world.

#5 Get out in Nature

Being in nature is great for mind, body, and soul. It improves creativity and problem solving. It reduces anxiety. It reduces stress. Walks in the park also are great for your bodies’ health. So, get out there and enjoy nature just a little bit more.
