Do you want to learn a new language? My husband and I have been talking about doing that together for a few years now, and wanted something other than Spanish or French since both of us know a little of those languages. We’ve been given the opportunity to review a service called Babbel language which makes learning a new language fun and interactive. Their service offers a total of 13 languages from English to Indonesian where users can learn with easy and stimulating lessons. You can choose whether you’re a beginner or have prior knowledge and access online lessons. What is also cool is that you can also use mobile topic-based and grammar courses, vocabulary, writing, speaking and listening comprehension exercises. Babbel has been online since 15th January 2008 and has 17 million users of all ages from more than 190 countries and 15,5 million App Downloads!

My husband and I decided to take the trial together and learn Swedish- boy was it fun. We are always shopping at Ikea which is a Swedish store, so we took some time together to learn Swedish and I have to say it was fun! We really enjoyed how easy it was to use the service offered by Babbel and look forward to learning more. Each lesson contained the right amount of information as to not overload you and ensured to build upon what you learned in the previous lesson. You started out with the basics and then learned how to complete full phrases and sentences.

The voices in the program accurately enunciated the language so that it was easy for you repeat their pronunciation and you could click on the phrase to have it repeated over and over. You could also choose to enable voice recognition (which we did not do as we are both sick with colds so it probably would’ve sounded bad, lol) so that you can ensure that you’re pronouncing the phrases/terms right. When we took a break from the lessons we could easily go to the Vocabulary session for a review of the terms that we had learned so we could continue in the lesson!

We really had a great time learning Swedish and will continue to practice so that we can expand our vocabulary. 🙂 If you’re looking for a challenging but fun activity to do with your spouse, consider learning a new language (Swedish is fun)!
