Finding a delicious dinner recipe for my family is always one of my goals! I love to cook and try new recipes and tweak my favorites to be our own sometimes! My entire family LOVES Italian Foods so we are always making pasta of some sort whether it be just plain spaghetti, lasagna, baked ziti or stuffed shells- we love them all the same.
Prego® Farmers’ Market sauces are newly available at your local Walmart store and make a great addition to your family’s dinner recipes. These sauces are made with the kind of ingredients that you would find at your local farmers’ market like vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Since trying these sauces out in my home, I have fallen in love and cannot wait to try some more recipes using these as they have fresh ingredients! I love that you really don’t have to add anything to these sauces, they have an irresistible taste and will certainly become favorites in your home.
Baked Ziti is a favorite in our house and I’m excited to share our favorite recipe for it with you!! Making it is easy and convenient. You can even make a batch ahead of time and keep them available as freezer meals – great for the busy family.
You can find the sauce that I use in the recipe below at your local Walmart – see pictures above for easy to find location! 😀
Baked Ziti
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 Jar of Prego® Farmers’ Market Roasted Garlic Sauce
- 1 Red Bell Pepper
- 1 Green Bell Pepper
- 2 Basil Leaves
- 1 Large Onion
- 1 Tub (15 oz) of Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
- 16 oz. Ziti Pasta, cooked al dente
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- 1 egg
- Fresh Parsley Flakes
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375.
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef until halfway cooked.
Add the peppers, basil and onion in a food processor and chop until desired consistency.
Add the pepper mixture to the ground beef and continue to prepare ground beef.
Drain excess grease and return beef mixture to pan.
Add entire jar of Prego sauce. Simmer.
While the beef is simmering, add entire container of Ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, half of the mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese into a medium sized bowl. Mix thoroughly.
In a 9×13″ baking dish, add 1/2 of the cooked and drained ziti noodles. Top with 1/2 of the cheese mixture. Add a 1/2 of the meat mixture and sprinkle 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.
Do another layer – pasta, cheese, meat and then the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and pasta is bubbling. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve.

We love Italian food in our family too. I would make spaghetti to go along with the sauce.
