Beessential began about six years ago when a friend put a beehive on the Rzepka family farm. They didn’t plan to be responsible for it, but when life events kept him from tending to it, David Rzepka became a beekeeper. He found bee science and culture fascinating, and soon began researching bees and attending workshops at The Ohio State University agricultural campus. He also came to realize how connected the bees’ world is to ours – any changes in our environment affect their environment as well. David began to think about the foods we eat, the chemicals we use, and the impact these factors have on bees and on us. That’s when the idea hit him: He wanted to make natural skincare and hair products using honey, beeswax, and other ingredients that are good for us and our world.
This is the philosophy behind Beessential. Today him and his family produce a full line of natural products – lip balm, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion – that help their customers keep their skin and hair healthy the natural way. All products are made in the USA!
But being a good corporate citizen isn’t just about using the Earth’s products wisely. So in addition to drawing from the world to make our natural skincare and hair products, we give back through our charitable arm, SweetYear.org.
Beesssential sent me three of their products to try out– Lip Balm Gift Tin, Grapefruit and Lemongrass Body Wash and the Energizing Cucumber and Green Tea Body Lotion! I suffer from dry skin and even more so since I’ve had Liam and as the weather has gotten cooler. I need to take better care of my skin, and take some time to use products that are good for me, effective and good for the environment.
The first product I tried out was the Grapefruit & Lemongrass Body Wash! Their body washes are moisturizing and SLS-Free with gentle, hydrating Hemp, Honey and Aloe. The All Natural Body Wash made with pure, plant-derived ingredients and Vegetable Glycerin. These mild, nourishing body washes for sensitive skin cleanse with ultra-hydrating Coconut, and Olive Oils while creating a rich, luscious lather. I have dry, sensitive skin so I have to be careful what products I use. Not only does this product contain all natural ingredients, but it has a nice smell to it- fresh and clean! You also only need a little bit to create a nice lather in the shower.
Next, I tried out the Energizing Cucumber and Green Tea Body Lotion! Beessential’s skin-softening Paraben Free Body Creams are delightfully scented with pure essential oils. Exotic moisturizers like Shea Butter and Olive Oil naturally hydrate and heal skin for improved tone, texture and appearance. These hearty, non-irritating nourishing Body Creams gluide onto skin smoothly and absorb quickly. They are safe for all-over Body, Hands and even Face. For radiant skin that feels silky soft, supple and touchable. As I stated above, I have dry skin daily– and since having Liam is has gotten worse. Now the winter is upon us and I know my skin will suffer some more. I am always on the hunt for a great lotion that does the job for me– moisturizes effectively. This lotion goes on smooth and I can see it absorbing into my skin. Immediately you have soft, great smelling skin and I know that this product is going to do my skin good this winter!
Lastly I tried out the Lip Balm Gift Tin! A unique blend of replenishing Virgin Olive and Coconut Oils added with moisturizing Beeswax, Aloe and Hemp. Guess what, they keep my lips moisturized for much longer than the others that I was using!!
I loved the Beessential products and only wish I had the opportunity to try them earlier. I know of a few people that I could gift these products to that have similar skin as me and share my love/addiction to lip balms ;).
