Decluttering Tips for the Very Busy Mom
There are loads of tasks that go along with the title of Mom. Chauffeur, cook, boo-boo kisser, and tutor. The list can go on an on. If your kiddos need something, you are there for them. But along with being a mom, you are also required to do your part in making sure the house stays in tip top shape.
This of course means keeping up with the laundry, preparing and cooking meals, and trying to keep the house clean, in general. One way to stay on top of a clean house is to minimize the clutter. As a mom, you know you have very little free time, and you want to use it wisely. Here are some tips to help you declutter, as a very busy mom!
Toss it or Keep it Right Away
As soon as your kids walk in the door, their backpacks likely get unloaded on the kitchen table. Glittery artwork and spelling tests flood the table almost instantly. This is where the clutter begins. Stop it in its tracks by decided right away if you will be hanging onto your child’s work. Hang, store, or toss the work instantly to keep it from piling up on you.
Get Rid of Outgrown Clothes
A sudden growth spurt has hit your child, and their jeans have now turned into high waters. Do not just shove them to the side of the closet, or leave them in the dresser drawer for later. As soon as your little one says that their clothes no longer fit, do something with them right away. There is no sense in shoving it in a tote to deal with later, because who knows when you will actually have time to take care of that overflowing tote.
Declutter While You Wait
Often times, we have just a few minutes of downtime while we wait for a load of laundry to dry, or while dinner is cooking. Use these spare minutes wisely and take a look around the house. This is a great opportunity, as decluttering will not take long, if you have been following the other tips.
Don’t Bring Extra Items In
If you’re serious about decluttering as a busy mom, don’t bring extra items into your house. Instead, avoid shopping for junk. The less items you bring in, just know that you’re giving yourself less work. Make a list of what you need and only buy those items. You’re a mom and your time is precious.
