The Holiday season is right around the corner, can you believe it? That means that it is time to think of gift giving and decorations for your house. Christmas is one of those holidays that we do take the time to decorate for. We like to make our tree different every year and are now incorporating Liam’s ornaments onto the tree. These DIY clay ornaments are perfect for the kids to join in with crafts this year. It is easy and fun! These would also make great tie – on gifts for your gift giving this Christmas.
Ingredients-
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cornstarch
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
3/8 cup water
You will also need-
Mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
Cookie cutters
straw
Rolling pin
Parchment paper
An oven
Directions-
1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees
2. In a small mixing bowl combine all your ingredients and mix well
3. Once your ingredients are well mixed, pour your mixture into a sauce pan
4. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat while constantly stirring
5. Mix/cook until your mixture forms a ball of dough (takes 2-3 minutes)
6. Place your dough onto a piece of parchment paper to cool, with a wet rag on top
7. Once your dough is cool, roll it out to 1/4″ thick (if the edges seem a little dry, get your hands wet and smooth the dough out)
8. Use your cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them onto a parchment paper lined baking pan
9. Use the top of your straw to cutout little circles from the tops of your shapes
10. Bake for 1 hour in a 175 degree oven, flipping half way through
11. Let your Christmas ornaments cool on a wire rack for about 30 minutes
12. String your ornaments with a little decorative string or ribbon and hang them up on your tree or add to the top of Christmas presents
