Spice up your Christmas tree this year with some adorable Gingerbread ornaments that you can make easily in the comfort of your home. These are easy to make and fun for decorating, you can make them your own. You can even tie them on gift bags for an added Christmas gift. I love homemade gifts, and these are perfect.
Ingredients
3/4 cup applesauce
2 bottles (2.37 oz) ground cinnamon
Cookie Cutters
Drinking Straws
Colorful Ribbon
Puffy Paint, white
Optional: Sand Paper or Nail File
Directions
Preheat oven to 200F. Mix applesauce and cinnamon in small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. (You may need to use your hands to incorporate all of the cinnamon).
Using about 1/4 of the dough at a time, roll dough to 1/4 inch to 1/3 inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap.
Peel off top sheet of plastic wrap. Cut dough into desired shapes with 2 to 3 inch cookie cutters.
Make a hole at the top of the ornament with drinking straw or skewer.
Place ornaments on baking sheet. Bake 2 1/2 hours. Cool ornaments on wire rack.
(Optional) Using sand paper or a nail file, gently file the edges of the ornaments if they are rough or contain uneven edges.
On a flat surface use puffy paint to decorate the ornaments. Let dry.
Cut about 6″ of string for each ornament. Tie one end together and attach to ornament with a slip knot. Hang and enjoy the amazing cinnamon smell.

I love the idea of giving them with other gifts for a little extra holiday cheer! Also looks like a fun activity for kids, especially the mixing and decorating.
