It is officially cold and flu season and with that comes the need for anything to soothe those sore throats, body aches and stuffy noses. Essential oils are always used in our house when someone isn’t feeling well or showing signs of getting sick. I’m going to show you how you can make homemade shower bombs and have them on hand when you need!
Homemade Essential Oil Shower Bombs
Ingredients
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup water
- Silicone mold
- Essential Oils (see below for suggested oils to use)
Add baking soda to a medium sized bowl and add water 1/2 Tbs at a time mixing after each addition.
Add water in increments until mixture resembles damp sand. It should hold together when you press it between your fingers but not feel wet.
Add mixture to your molds and press down firmly to compact it.
Allow to dry overnight or bake at 200 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Store in an airtight container to keep them safe from humidity.
For best results add 2-3 drops of your preferred essential oils right before placing in the bottom of your shower or bath water.
Here are some recommended oils that you can add before placing in the bottom of your shower or bath:
- Colds/Flu: 1-2 drops of Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lavender

Could I add my essential oil to the mix before molding? That way I have them on hand for myself, or give them as a gift. Even better my kids can use them if I'm busy.
