This puppy chow recipe is truly fall in a bowl. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE the fall crisp weather, wearing hoodies, no mosquitoes, etc. There is just something about the colors and flavors of fall that just makes me happy. Then, of course, there are the comfort foods that I love like Chicken & Dumplings, Chili and Beef Stew.

In addition to comfort dinners, I also love the fall desserts! In fact, baking is something that I LOVE to do and wish I had more time to do.

How to Make Fall Puppy Chow

While this recipe is VERY simple, there is a method that you should follow to get the best outcome!! The hardest thing I have to do when making this puppy chow is resist eating as I’m adding ingredients. I promise it is worth the wait, though!

Fall Puppy Chow Ingredients

Mix Cereal and Brownie Mix

Add the cereal and brown mix to a large bowl. Toss until the cereal is well coated.

Melt Chocolate & Peanut Butter

In a microwave safe bowl add the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Melt in 30 second intervals, stirring after each until completely melted and smooth.

Mix Chocolate + Peanut Butter with Cereal

Add the chocolate/peanut butter mixture to the cereal and using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently mix until the cereal is well coated.

Spread Mixture on Cookie Sheet

Spread the mixture to the baking/cookie sheet until it completely cools. Add back to the large bowl.

Add other Ingredients to Cereal

Add the candy corn, pumpkin candies, mini pretzel twists, mini–Reese’s Cups and M&M’s to the bowl. Toss until the candies are well incorporated.

How to Store this Fall Puppy Chow

Store this delicious dessert in an airtight container and enjoy!! This is a great recipe to make in advance or something to have ready to put into a fall decorative bowl for company!

How long does this Puppy Chow Last?

If stored in an airtight container, it will stay fresh for about a week! However, ours gets eaten before then – it is THAT good.

Can you Freeze this Fall Puppy Chow?

You sure can!!! Simply freeze the puppy chow in an airtight container for up to 2 months!

What if I am allergic to Peanut Butter?

Don’t worry – this puppy chow is just as delicious by using almond butter, cashew butter or even sunbutter. Simply substitute the same amount in place of the peanut butter. Yum!

Put a fall twist on a traditional puppy chow recipe! Simply add some fall flavors and colors for an irresistable dessert or snack!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • ¾ cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ box of fudge brownie mix
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup pumpkin candies
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup mini–Reese’s Cups
  • 1 cup M&M’s

Instructions

    1. Add the cereal and brown mix to a large bowl. Toss until the cereal is well coated.
    2. In a microwave safe bowl add the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Melt in 30 second intervals, stirring after each until completely melted and smooth.

Notes

If you're allergic to peanut butter, simply substitute almond butter, sunbutter, or cashew butter in its place.
