Memorial Day is a holiday that I consider the official start of summer. Yes, I know that summer starts in June, but the long weekend that I get from work and to spend with my family to honor those who sacrificed everything for our country’s independence is one that I appreciate.
We usually have some sort of a cookout with some patriotic desserts and foods for everyone to enjoy assuming the weather is going to be beautiful. What sorts of cookout foods are your favorite? I like the traditional burgers and hot dogs, but also sides like macaroni salad and potato salad.
After Memorial Day, we celebrate our country’s independence with the Fourth of July! This holiday is one of my all time favorites because of all of the things we can celebrate. We celebrate not only our independence as a country, but we also spend time with our dear families with food, parades, fireworks, cookouts, games, etc.
How does your town celebrate the Fourth of July? Do you attend these festivities? Do you go to any cookouts or see any fireworks? We celebrate by attending a local fireworks show that night but also by having some delicious cookout foods at our house with friends.
If you’re attending a cookout or any gathering or sorts, you have to bring these delicious 4th of July Cookies that are colorful with sprinkles and super easy and delicious! They’ll be a crowd pleaser for sure!
Easy + Delicious 4th of July Cookies
This recipe is super simply and includes ingredients that you may already have in your baking pantry. As I love to bake, these ingredients are usually always in my pantry ready for my next baking adventure.
You first combine the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth. Then, you mix the dry ingredients into a separate bowl before combining it all together with an egg and lemon extract.
Next you roll the cookies into balls and then into the 4th of July Sprinkles that you have in a bowl.
Now, bake in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes and let them cool completely. I like to bake my cookies on parchment paper sheets or these baking mats as it helps them not to stick and also makes cleanup a breeze.
These cookies are SO easy and delicious. I promise that they’ll be a hit at your next cookout. Further, you simply switch up the sprinkles and you can make these for a variety of holidays and events.
You can even make this dough ahead of time, so that they’re ready to bake when you are. Everyone loves a sugar cookie with sprinkles, right?
These cookies are puffy, and beautiful for display and enjoyment at your 4th of July gathering!!
