Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs are the perfect family treat this Christmas season! Cozy up with a warm cup of Hot Chocolate using these cocoa bombs while you watch Christmas movies – The Grinch of course!
Hot cocoa bombs are all the rage in the last few years. From simple ones drizzled with melted chocolate to extravagant ones containing fun flavors, hot cocoa bombs are so much fun. They’re easy to make, too!
The Grinch is a classic Christmas movie that everyone should watch each and every year. The best way to celebrate a season with family, in my opinion, is to start some Christmas traditions of your own. We have 3 small children and the older they get (and we get), the more important Christmas traditions are to me. As a child, we had some Christmas traditions that I remember to this day! I sure hope my kids remember these small but big traditions that we do each year.

What are Hot Cocoa Bombs?
These little fun treats start with a chocolate shell that is filled with hot cocoa mix, maybe some marshmallows, chocolate chips or other flavors. They’re hardened and ready for use! Then, you simply warm up a cup of milk, drop the hot cocoa bomb gently in the mug and the magic begins! The hot cocoa bomb will melt and all of those creamy flavors will be mixed into the milk. Yum!
What Ingredients Do I Need?
- Green candy melts
- Milk chocolate hot chocolate mix
- Mini dehydrated marshmallows
- Red heart sprinkles, to decorate
What Size Hot Cocoa Mold Do I Need?
You’ll notice that hot cocoa bomb molds come in a variety of sizes. For this specific recipe, here is the one I used. If you use a smaller mold, you’ll get more bombs but you’ll want to use less milk when you go to use these hot cocoa bombs.
How Do I Make Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs?
TO MAKE THE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMB:
Melt the bag of chocolate in the microwave in 30 second increments until smooth.
Fill each cavity of the hot chocolate mold until covered. We like to use the back of a spoon. Allow to set.
Follow up with another layer of melted chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two spheres are going to join. A thicker edge is better! Allow to set.
Remove the sphere halves from the molds very gently.
Using a WARM frying pan, gently melt the ridge of one sphere.
Fill with drink mix of choice and any marshmallows, if desired.
Then take another shell half and place in the frying pan to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and join the two halves to make the complete sphere. Gently press along the sides to clean up the seal and remove any excess.
Set to the side as you finish the remaining bombs.
How to Decorate these Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs
You may drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the bombs and follow up with sprinkles to decorate.
How to Use These Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs
When ready to consume, place the bomb in a mug. Heat up 8-12 oz of milk or water – the hotter the better explosion. Slowly pour over the bomb and stir thoroughly. Allow to cool before consuming, if needed. Enjoy!
