National Park Trust’s Kids to Parks Day Sat., May 16. @NatParkTrust

Thank You For Sharing!!

As the days get warmer here in Maryland, we try to find all the more reasons to be outdoors! We had a winter with cold days and a good amount of snow so getting outdoors with a little one just wasn’t easy to do. Even running errands was challenging so now that the weather is warmer we are always outside if we can be.

I am also excited to share that National Park Trust is sponsoring Kids to the Park Day on May 16th because they know that it is so important for kids to stay active and to get outside. There are so many electronic devices that can distract kids from getting outside! NPT is encouraging children across the country to explore their neighborhood parks and discover science, history, nature and adventure right around the corner or just across town. Our website can help jumpstart your adventure. Visit us at kidstoparks.org. National Parks Trust is asking parents, teachers and caregivers to bring kids to the park on May 16th. You can register to take your kids to the park and in return you’ll be entered to win a Nikon COOLPIX L830 camera! After you register all you have to do is take your child to a local or national park on May 16. If you’re looking for an organized event in your area you can check out Park Trust for more information.

As a child, I was always outside- riding my bike, making mud pies or playing hide and seek! I loved it and we played outside almost every day when it was nice. It is very important that our children have time outside as well, so I am going to pledge to get my kids to the park on May 16th. I am excited to helping our children recognize the importance and the fun they can have outside!! I am also excited to start our own nature adventure by checking out Kids Parks.

MORE ABOUT NATIONAL PARK TRUST

National Park Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving parks today and creating park stewards for tomorrow. As people spend more time indoors and as successive generations grow up with less of a connection to nature, NPT wants to build a greater awareness and appreciation for the importance of our country’s public lands and parks.
