Before we had Liam we were on the hunt for the perfect baby monitor- and boy are there a lot out there to choose from. We looked at those that had sensors on them for the crib, those that were stationary, those that had music, and those that were movable and had multiple cameras. It was certainly overwhelming. I hope that I can help you make that decision easier with this review.
I was recently given the opportunity to review the Levana Keera 2 Camera Video Monitor system and I was so excited. I was loving that it had 2 cameras that I could view at the same time on the monitor- that way I could watch Liam in a few different rooms in the house. Now he is mobile so he could be in the family room or his room – I can watch that from afar on the monitor to make sure he is doing alright.
Here’s a little about Levana:
Levana has been exclusively manufacturing baby monitors since 2002. They are dedicated to baby safety and allowing parents to do more knowing their baby is safe. Their exclusive focus on monitors allows them to focus on perfecting their products. They have developed solutions to fit the needs of moms by asking them what they need.
Levana monitors have state-of-the-art features including:
- Invisible LEDs.
- ClearVu digital wireless technology (which means it cannot be hacked..extremely important when looking for a monitor!).
- Robust battery life that exceeds several days.
- Levana was one of the first to market with hi-res 4.3” LCD screens and the first to market with an easy-to-use GUI.
- Levana has one of the only wireless movement monitors on the market.
I couldn’t wait to set up my Keera camera system- my husband was excited for the PTZ abilities of the cameras (he worked in retail investigations for years). Here are some of the standard features of this system:
- 3.5” Baby Video Monitor.
- Pan/Tilt/Zoom Night Vision Camera.
- A Rechargeable Battery.
- 2GB Micro SD card with adapter
- 2 Power Adapters.
- It also has a quick start guide and a one year warranty.
I am falling in love with the PTZ feature too, it is awesome! I also love that it has an invisible LED light lets me see Liam in the dark ….. the cool thing is that there is not a light beaming from the camera to disturb him. The video monitor and the cameras have a nice design and aren’t bulky. They can be put up on a shelf or sat out and not be too bothersome.
This unit has 2 additional features that I love – lullabies that can be played through the camera with the touch of a button and the ability to talk to the baby from the monitor through the camera. The parent unit has a lot of settings but it is easy to navigate as the icons are very intuitive. There are a few settings that you can adjust for your child like the senstivity to determine whether or not you want the monitor to pick up your child’s every peep or not and then the ability to turn the monitor off until baby makes a noise- that way it saves batteries, this is called PEEP mode.
I love that the battery lasts about 24 hours without charging and 10 hours while being used in PEEP mode. There is another feature that I love but I wouldn’t have expected is the ability to capture pictures and video of your kids using the included SD card.
Overall, I am enjoying the Levana Keera 2 system! I know that we will continue to use it even as Liam grows older and we have more kids. Plus, I am recommending it to other Moms in my circle! I can now do more without having to follow Liam everywhere and watch him on the monitor during naptime and bedtime.
