If you’re in the DC area and are a Mom or Mom-to-be, you’re invited to an amazing day with some of the best resources on July 23rd.
What is MommyCon?
MommyCon is a nationwide convention series dedicated to creating and nurturing a community of parents and parents-to-be in celebration of natural parenting.
MommyCon takes a gentle and positive approach to educating parents about the emotional and physical benefits of natural birthing, breastfeeding and babywearing. We advocate values of holistic health, eco-friendly diapering, child safety standards and procedures, and female self-care and wellness. Our mission is to create a community of support, acceptance and non-judgement for parents journeying through parenthood.
MommyCon is a boutique style convention dedicated to bringing modern parents and mothers-to-be together. Our focus is on natural and organic parenting methods and timeless tidbits as we journey through parenthood together. Our seminars and workshops include; babywearing, birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, car seat safety, natural health and medicine, baby gear, child-proofing and more.
MommyCon Returns to DC
MommyCon, a first-of-its-kind natural parenting convention, returns to DC with a larger than ever event at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016. The conference comprises a full day of educational programming on natural and organic parenting methods plus a product showcase hall of 80 exhibitors. Keynote speakers include body positive photographer Jade Beall of the Beautiful Body Project, Jessica Martin-Weber of The Leaky Boob, Jennifer Labit, CEO of Cotton Babies, and acclaimed actress and YouTube sensation Angel Laketa Moore.
The 2016 MommyCon builds on the success of the 2015 MommyCon, which reached an audience of 9,000 parents from 45 different states at nine sold-out conferences across the country. This year, MommyCon’s goals are even bigger. Xza Higgins, The company’s CEO and Program Director says: “In 2016 we aim to grow with our audience, just as their children have grown up with them. We will continue to offer sessions for new and expectant parents, but our goal is to provide offerings for every stage of early childhood. Our theme is aptly entitled ‘Growing Together.’”
Highlights of MommyCon
Highlights of the Austin conference includes the MommyCon debut of Angel Laketa Moore, decorated actress and YouTube sensation, who will share stories about her journey as a mother of three boys, including twins. MommyCon sponsor and founder/CEO of Cotton Babies, Inc, Jennifer Labit will return to discuss the importance of cloth diapering. Joining Jennifer is outspoken breastfeeding advocate Jessica Martin-Weber of The Leaky Boob. Jessica is a mom of six and is dedicated to helping mothers find the strength and courage to breastfeed in an unsupportive society. She will provide a raw and emotional look into nourishing babies, toddlers, and mothers. Workshops include an expanded selection of babywearing specific seminars such as Babywearing 101, Wrapping 101, Toddlerwearing (presented by Beco Baby Carriers), and How to Ring Sling, educational symposiums on environmentally friendly menstruation products and potty training plus sleep consultations.

I've never been to MommyCon before but it's hard to choose only one session to be excited about! As a FTM to an almost 4 month old, I want to experience as many seminars as possible - "Postpartum Rehab" with Dr. Dara and "Fall in Love with You" with Angel Laketa Moore would be great for my personal well-being, "Car Seat Safety" with Mat York and "When a Lending Library..." hit close to home for me, "Zumbini Fun" and "Babies at the Barre" with Tori Levine sound like both fun and good exercise, "Baby Led Weaning" with Sally Kuzermchak would be very useful in the coming months... but I definitely NEED the Naturepedic Sleep Consultation's "Moving Past Bed-Sharing"!! I could learn so much if only I could afford to buy tickets or get lucky enough to win them!!

Omg I would loooove to go to this! So many things I'd love to see. Cloth diapering 101, the potty training session, especially the natural childbirth in and out of the hospital setting. This would be amazing to win. Crossing my fingers!
