Taking the time to do a puzzle isn’t easy for Garrett and I since Liam came along! I love doing them, though, so I was excited to try this one out from Hallmark. It has been a long time since I’ve done a puzzle and I couldn’t wait to see this one finished. I had to remember the strategies I used to use when I did them as a kid and try to apply those so that I could then find the time to do the rest of it as quickly as possible.
I chose to review the New England Afternoon Puzzle from Hallmark because of the country-like picture and fun pattern. My in-laws are from the New England area so I also thought that they would enjoy it too. In fact, they helped us put some of it together when they came to visit a few weeks ago. What I didn’t notice about this puzzle was the amount of same color pieces that would present a challenge for us? There are numerous barns/houses that are the red color and windows. Further, the sky — Garrett did that part for me. Also, the amount of people in the puzzle made it challenging. All in all, though, it was a FUN family activity and gave me something to do other than use my computer or watch TV.
I loved the feeling of accomplishment when I got a large section done or I found that ONE piece that I had been looking for in the box for a while. Those of you who love puzzles will know that feeling. I also forgot to mention a few other challenging parts — trees, fences and animals. There wasn’t anything necessarily easy about putting together this puzzle but it sure was fun! We finished it a little over a week ago and it is still put together on our dining room table, right where we started it. I’m not sure when I will take it apart but maybe soon! My Mom is excited to take it with her when she goes camping with a few of her sisters! I think they’ll enjoy it.
Here’s the finished product:
Hallmark has puzzles a few other puzzles in this collection! I know that there are some friends and family members that would love to receive one as a gift!
