I was invited by Disney to attend the #QueenOfKatwe Event. Although all of my expenses were paid, all opinions are my own.
I was honored to be able to attend the Premiere of Disney’s Queen of Katwe at the El Capitan Theatre a few nights ago. The experiences are always jam packed but truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. After seeing the movie and interviewing the cast as well as the real-life inspirations for the film, I was SO excited to walk the red carpet, etc. Stay tuned for more posts pertaining to this movie including the interviews!
We are never sure what to expect on the Red Carpet as sometimes the carpet is not red, sometimes it is blue or another color that corresponds with the movie theme. We were able to stop on the Oscar steps before we went to the Red Carpet and took our normal ‘blogger group photo’ shot! I think we all look stunning!
We were so excited to see that the carpet was indeed red and, in my opinion, perfectly decorated for Queen of Katwe. This carpet was my 2nd Red Carpet Premiere experience and I think that this red carpet was more crowded than previous ones. We did, however, find a few spots where the news crew was interviewing the cast and real life inspirations for the film. The Red Carpet is a very fast-paced experience and we keep moving but are able to take our time and enjoy the moment! Wow, what an experience!
Before long, it was time to get inside the theater to see Queen of Katwe. We always have seats in the front of the theater and the cast is usually a few rows back. We grabbed popcorn and a drink before heading in and then listened to the beautiful music while we awaited the premiere.
It is always fun right as the premiere is starting as when the opening credits roll the audience is cheering. Truly, everyone there is excited to celebrate the film. We had already interviewed the cast and real life inspirations so it was exciting to see the movie and really think about our time spent with these wonderful people earlier that day.
Queen of Katwe is an absolutely amazing film and I highly recommend that you go see it. The movie is in limited theaters on September 23 and in ALL theaters on September 30. Stay tuned for more information, including the interviews with the cast, soon!
