The Flirtation Experiment is a book from popular Christian voices Lisa Jacobson and Phylicia Masonheimer. The book inspires you to strengthen your marriage with a fun, unexpected approach that leads to the depth, richness, and closeness you desire.

My husband and I have been married for 10 years now (almost 11) and one of the things that we try not to do is to get stuck in the mundane. We have 2 kids and full time jobs as well as some hobbies. It is really easy to lose sight of your marriage and prioritizing that time together. While that doesn’t mean that we have to only do that, it does mean that we have to be intentional with it. Our kids are very important and so are our jobs, but our marriage is primary.

The Flirtation Experiment from Lisa Jacobson and Phylicia Masonheimer is a wonderful book. When I read about the book, I was excited to read it. The book met me where I was in my marriage and encouraged me to take the flirtation back and make it a priority. Plus, it encouraged this with Christian values which is extremely important to me.

The Flirtation Experiment – My Review

As I stated above, it is really hard as a wife to get stuck in the mundane of “must dos” in my daily life like getting my son ready and taken to school, my daughter ready and taken to the babysitters, dinner made, dishes done, house vacuumed, etc. All of this is on top of being a full time employee and social media influencer.

All of us are busy in our own ways. I feel like as a Mom, I get overwhelmed very easily with all of those tasks (and more) and let my marriage fall to the sidelines. Do I think we have a bad marriage? No, absolutely not. I feel like our marriage is strong, built on our relationship with God, trust and friendship. I do feel like we need to work on spending that time with each other and ensuring that we don’t lose the spark.

After reading The Flirtation Experiment, it showed me how, as a wife, I can ensure that I am focused and giving what I should be giving to the marriage. In fact, we’ve signed our kids up to go to “Parent’s Night Out” for a few hours and will have a “date night” soon. This is something we have let slip to the side. We need that time together ….. without kids.

Practical Applications – The Flirtation Experiment

The book shows practical applications taking in to account all of the busyness that each of us have. However, it took me back to why I fell in love with and why I am still with my husband. We both WANT and NEED that spark to remain. I know that my husband is going to love seeing me prioritize it :).
