Ask your kids what Valentine’s Day is all about. I’m guessing they’re thinking all about the ‘commercialized’ holiday. Candy. Hearts. Pink. Red. Complex Valentine Mailboxes. The latest Disney character on valentine cards. The truth is, they can get so much more out of Valentine’s Day with just a little push in the right direction from you. You can remind them that it’s a holiday about love. Love takes on so many forms and teaching your kids to love and feel loved is an essential part of their upbringing.

It can be difficult to remember to show love and kindness all day, every day, especially as a kid who is just learning their way around the world. So, in our family, that’s exactly why holidays are so important. They’re annual reminders for us to do good and be good so that we have a reference point for living our lives well.

If your kids are just ‘in it for the candy’ but you want to make Valentine’s Day more meaningful, I’ve got a solution that won’t cause chaos or grumbling (from you or the kids). Welcome to the world, Valentine’s Day Countdown for Kids.

This isn’t an ordinary countdown or advent calendar, this helps your kids fulfill thoughtful and service-oriented activities that spread love to everyone in their lives. You’ll be able to make Valentine’s Day a holiday that’s as awe-inspiring and exciting as Christmas with this printable pack.

It includes thoughtful service ideas so you’ll be able to make meaningful memories while making others feel an outpouring of love from your family.

There are even clever conversation starters and family love notes that’ll have everyone involved in great conversations about love and others.

If you want to change the meaning of Valentine’s Day in your kids’ eyes, you can try to pull them away from the candy and treats on your own, but you probably just need to get printing. Grab your own digital copy and print out the ready-for-you ideas. Just try it and see how your kids view Valentine’s Day in a whole new light… one of LOVE!

This is a great idea! I'd love to do a count down to Valentine's Day where we do nice things to show love to others.... 1 thing a day from Feb 1st to Feb. 14th, or longer if they want. Our little ones are homeschooled, but we do give out Valentine's to dance friends and neighbors too.

This is such a wonderful idea! I definitely want to do this with my family now. I am all about teaching my kids that Valentines Day is about love. :) They are homeschooled so they do not have the traditional experience anyway.
