Happy New Year!! Slime is something that really became popular to make in 2018 and I am only assuming that the popularity will continue. Do you stay up to celebrate the new year or celebrate in another way?
As we have a toddler, we celebrate earlier than most and get our sleep! Even if Liam were to stay up until midnight with us, he wouldn’t sleep in on the 1st so we’d rather celebrate early as a family. Each year, though, Garrett and I celebrate – we at least wake up to tell each other Happy New Year at midnight.
When you’re planning the fun things to do with your kids this year for New Years, why not make this glitter slime to celebrate? It is super easy, and a fun DIY craft to do with the kids as you wait to ring in the new year, or however you celebrate with them!
DIY Welcome 2019 Slime
Supplies:
- 5 oz clear glue
- 1/2 cup water
- Jumbo glitter – gold
- Jumbo glitter – silver
- New Year’s Eve beaded necklaces
- Number candles
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact solution
Instructions:
Cut a few of the beaded necklaces into small pieces. Mine ranged from 1-5 beads. These will make your slime extra crunchy.
In a bowl, pour 5 oz clear glue.
Add 1/2 cup water. Mix until the glue has broken up and is incorporated into the water.
Sprinkle in your glitter. I love glitter! Stir.
Mix 1/2 cup baking soda in. Baking soda will help determine your slime thickness.
Add 1 tbsp of contact solution. Mix. The slime will be ready to knead when the slime pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Contact solution is what makes the slime sticky or not.
Knead the slime. It will be sticky at first. Just keep kneading it! If you have to, you can add a little bit of contact solution, but be careful not to over activate.
Cut the sticks off the candle numbers and also cut the wicks. Add the numbers to your slime.
Store in an airtight container.
