When I think back on my childhood, my fondest memories are those that involve every person in my family being together. Sometimes we had family game nights, other times we were just having hilarious dinner conversations but no matter what, we were together. I want my kids to have these same kinds of beautiful memories but I feel like I’m losing them to the world of technology (and cooler friends) and it’s hard to have the energy to find a way to bring them back to me, especially if all they do is complain about being bored once I get them there.
If you’re looking for a great gift idea this Christmas for your family, this is it! The Year of Family Date Nights Bundle is a great way to spend more time together! I heard about ‘family dates’ from a friend who had probably listened to me complain one too many times. This digital set of family dates from The Dating Divas gave me an entire year of fun ideas to keep us together as a family and all I had to do to get started was print out the ideas.
I needed a way to wrangle my family into the same room and remind them how much we actually do like each other – AND that their parents can actually be fun. But here’s the real truth: I spent days. I mean, days. Scouring the web for activities they would all enjoy and in the end I was just frustrated and wallowing in self-pity about how hard it was going to be to get it all together. I was being honest with myself and realizing these ideas sounded great but my follow-through was going to be the real problem. Where would I even find the time to drag my family back together and give them the memories I knew they needed for a happy childhood?!
